After Principals Nominate Students ...
- Students will receive an e-mail from DECATS informing them that they have been nominated to participate as a Scholar at DECATS. Those who wish to attend the program will go online to make formal application.
- Those students who will be first-year Scholars will complete the New Scholar Application. Students who have been to DECATS before will fill out the Returning Scholar Application. Both applications are only accessible via myStatus.
- As nominees make application, those students who will be first-year Scholars will submit a Behavioral Rating Scale to their school. Students download this document as part of the application via the myStatus system.
- The completed rating scale should be mailed directly to DECATS. Applicants may not mail or bring the completed document to DECATS. It is not necessary to mail the rating scale for each student in separate envelopes. To ease the process, we suggest you compile all information from each applicant and mail everyone's documents together to ensure we receive all required items.
- School administrators should only complete the behavioral rating scale for those students who submit it.
After Nominees Apply Online ...
- All applicants register for a myStatus account as part of the application process. Keep your username and password in a safe place! myStatus is the only area where admissions documents and processes may be accessed.
- Applicants who will be first-year Scholars submit a behavioral rating scale to their school. The appropriate individuals at your school will complete the form and mail it directly to DECATS. Forms may not be mailed or delivered to DECATS by parents.
- A $100.00 deposit must be mailed to DECATS in order to reserve a space for your Scholar. The deposit is refunded only in the event that a Scholar is not accepted to the program.
- Admissions status letters are usually e-mailed in March. Applicants can stay apprised of what DECATS has received by using the myStatus system. Changes and updates to the admissions timeline will be posted on the Important Dates calendar, and a news item will be placed on the homepage of our website.
After Applicants Are Accepted ...
- Students accepted to the program receive an acceptance e-mail from DECATS, where they are invited to go online to preview the courses that will be offered at the upcoming DECATS session.
- Registration begins after mentors have completed their course designs for the summer. Scholars will receive an e-mail with further details when registration is ready to begin, and an announcement will also be posted on our website.
- Scholars complete an online registration and rank the courses they want to take in order of preference.
- The remaining $300.00 tuition payment is due by the registration deadline. Extended day fees are also due by the registration deadline. Students who choose not to accept the invitation to attend DECATS must notify the program by the registration deadline.
- Applications for financial aid should be submitted by the deadline indicated on the Important Dates calendar. The application is found on myStatus.
- Families can track their registration progress by using the myStatus system.
After Scholars Register Online ...
- Scholars must mail their remaining $300.00 tuition payment to DECATS upon completing their online registration. Extended day fees are also due by the registration deadline.
- Scholars receive their course schedule at the Family Orientation and Open House, held the Saturday before DECATS begins. Course schedules are not available before Orientation and are not released via phone or e-mail. Sometimes there are last-minute changes that enable DECATS to shift Scholars into courses that they ranked as their first choice during registration. This is why course schedules are not available until Orientation.
