After Principals Nominate Students …

  • All nominated students receive an official nomination e-mail from DECATS informing them that they have been nominated to apply to DECATS. Those who wish to attend the program will go online to make formal application.
  • Those students who will be first-year Scholars will complete a New Scholar Application. Scholars who have been to DECATS before will fill out a Returning Scholar Application. Both applications – as well as all other admissions processes – are conducted completely online via myStatus.
  • To start an application, use the link sent to you in your nomination letter to set up your myStatus account. On-screen instructions will guide you through the entire process.

After Nominees Apply Online …

  • Keep your myStatus username and password in a safe place. myStatus is the only area where admissions documents and processes may be accessed.
  • A $100 deposit must be paid online or via mailed check in order to complete your application. The deposit is refunded only in the event that a Scholar is not accepted into the program.
  • Applications for financial aid should be submitted by the deadline indicated on the Important Dates calendar. The application is found on myStatus.
  • Applicants can stay apprised of what DECATS has received by using the myStatus system. Changes and updates to the admissions timeline will be posted on the Important Dates calendar, and a news item will be placed on the home page of our website.

After Applicants Are Accepted …

  • Students accepted into the program receive an acceptance email from DECATS, where they are invited to register online for the program.
  • Your remaining $350.00 tuition payment (and any other fees, like extended day payment or merchandise purchases) is due by the registration deadline.
  • Course selection begins after mentors have completed their course designs for the summer. A description of all the courses will be posted online. Scholars will receive an e-mail with further details when course selection is ready to begin, and an announcement will also be posted on our website.
  • Only those Scholars who have completed registration and paid their outstanding account balance will be able to proceed to course selection when it is made available.
  • Scholars complete an online course selection and rank the courses they want to take in order of preference.
  • Scholars who choose not to accept the invitation to attend DECATS must notify the program by the registration deadline.

After Scholars Register and Choose Courses Online …

  • Scholars receive their course schedule at the Family Orientation & Open House, held the Sunday before DECATS begins. Course schedules are not available before orientation and are not released via phone or e-mail. There are often last-minute changes that enable DECATS to shift Scholars into courses that they ranked as their first choice.
