From the Director’s Chair

Greetings DECATS Families!

On Thursday morning, over a year of planning, months of building courses, and hours of exploration and discovery culminated in our annual closing celebration day, which involved two separate super-assemblies this summer. What amazes me most about DECATS, beside the fascinating breakthroughs, remarkable insights, and moving acts of kindness is how quickly it all goes by. It seems like only yesterday we were gathering together for the first time, starting to learn our new theme song, and learning the standards of our time together. We played hard, learned more than I thought possible, and developed as many strengths as we could in three weeks. Now comes the time to enjoy the rest of the summer and look forward to reuniting next year.

A crucial component in improving the DECATS experience for future Scholars is the feedback we receive from parents and Scholars. If you haven’t done so already, please click on the links provided to submit your answers to the parent and Scholar evaluations. I can assure you that the administrative team uses your feedback extensively in the planning of future programs. Both the Parent Evaluation and Scholar Evaluation are available to you on the “2021 Program” tab of your myStatus portal.

Parents and Scholars are encouraged to send thank you letters to DeBusk Foundation as they enjoy hearing about the experiences your Scholars had during DECATS. You may send your correspondences to DeBusk Foundation, 12644 Sunlight Drive, Dallas, TX 75230.

Has DECATS been a positive, meaningful experience for your child? You can help us continue to make a difference and provide the DECATS opportunity to more young Scholars by contributing to the DECATS Scholarship Fund. We humbly ask you to prayerfully consider helping continue Mr. DeBusk’s legacy with a tax-deductible donation. Corporate matching gifts are a great way to maximize a personal contribution to our tuition assistance program.

May God bless you all,
