From the Director’s Chair
Greetings DECATS Families!
It has been another amazing week at DECATS! As the second week of our program comes to a close and we continue to embrace “With Great Power,” we are thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Our “Manners” Scholars refined their social skills of introductions and small talk. They look forward to putting all of these skills into practice on Tuesday of next week during our Manners to Morals Day. “Executive Functioning” Scholars explored and practiced ways to strengthen working memory, initiative, materials management and social coordination. During “Wellness,” Scholars discussed stressors, healthy body image and nutrition. Our “Values & Morals” Scholars were hard at work with their service project, a canned food drive benefiting St. Vincent de Paul.
The Scholars in “Slime Time” got their hands dirty developing different types of slime. Programming skills were put to the test in “Codezilla.” In “Bigger than Before” the Scholars used their magnificent magnifying skills to enlarge pictures through drawing using grid paper. The “Angry Birds” Scholars worked diligently to engineer the perfect catapult to knock down obstacles. Scholars in “Give My Regards to Broadway” prepared for their curtain call next week during our closing celebration. Scholars in “Home on the Range” designed their own pioneer clothes out of recyclables and unconventional materials.
It’s hard to believe that the final week of our program is upon us. We look forward to another great week learning and growing together “With Great Power.”
Sincerely in Christ,
Dr. Kendall Shamas
