SUMMARY:Cancelled: New Scholar & Parent Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Last summer in response to the COVID-19 pandemic\, we modified many of our traditional events and procedures in order to safely conduct the program. These necessary changes\, as well as program evaluation responses from Scholars\, parents and Mentors\, revealed benefits and improvements to a few of our traditions\, prompting us to make some of these modifications permanent. \nOne such change is regarding New Scholar-Parent Orientation normally held the Saturday before the program begins. System improvements allowed us to distribute course schedules and other important information online via myStatus\, and we intend to keep this process going forward. Therefore\, there will no longer be an on-site orientation held before the start of DECATS. You may remove this date from your schedule\, and we have marked this summer’s orientation as ‘cancelled’ on our website calendar. We will provide timely information at the beginning of June on these introductory aspects that were normally covered at orientation (daily schedule\, course schedule\, arrival and dismissal procedures\, lunch needs\, medications\, what to bring and wear\, and more).
