From the Director’s Chair

Dear Parents:

It’s amazing to think that we have already completed our second week of DECATS. I wanted to take a moment to give you an update and share some of the highlights of what your Scholars have been experiencing.

This week has been both eventful and exhilarating, filled with unforgettable experiences as we continue to unpack our theme of “Exploration Awaits”. Our Scholars have been deeply involved in a variety of activities designed to enhance learning, foster teamwork, and support personal development. Here are some of the standout moments:
Our “Manners” Scholars refined their social skills of introductions and small talk and practiced twirling pasta. They look forward to putting these skills into practice on Tuesday of next week during our Manners to Morals Day. “Executive Functioning” Scholars explored and practiced ways to strengthen working memory, initiative, materials management, and social coordination. During “Wellness,” Scholars discussed stressors, healthy body image and nutrition. Our “Values & Morals” Scholars were hard at work with their service project, a canned food and toiletry drive benefiting St. Vincent de Paul.

Scholars created beautiful stained-glass designs in Paintings Possible. In Blood and Guts, Scholars explored the anatomy of a lizard through discovery, dissection, and discussion. Fashion-forward inspiration boards were created by the Scholars in Passion for Fashion. In “LEGO Robotics,” Scholars designed and programmed robots to tackle various obstacle courses.

It has been amazing to see the growth of our Scholars in two short weeks. Under the guidance of our Mentors, Scholars are setting goals, navigating challenges, and celebrating successes. Working alongside these exceptional educators is a pleasure and an honor. Their commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating learning environment is unparalleled, and it is their efforts that help make DECATS such a transformative experience for our Scholars.

As we anticipate our final week of DECATS, we have an array of exciting activities planned. I am confident that our Scholars will seize this opportunity, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

Sincerely in Christ,
