From the Director’s Chair
Week One of our journey Deep in the Heart of DECATS has been an incredible adventure! Our Scholars have jumped right into learning with enthusiasm, curiosity, and confidence, all while embracing new challenges and opportunities around every bend in the trail. We are delighted to partner with you as we guide them through this exciting journey of discovery. Thank you for saying “yes” to this unforgettable summer experience.
Each morning, we gather for our community assembly to kick off the day with music, movement, celebration, and plenty of DECATS spirit. The energy is contagious as Scholars come together to connect, learn, and prepare for the adventures ahead. We especially enjoy seeing parents join us each morning at the DECATS Rodeo as they send their Scholars off for another day of exploration, growth, and fun in the heart of DECATS.
In Manners to Morals and Perspectives, Scholars are discovering the values and skills that help them become confident leaders. As they travel deeper into the heart of learning, they are tapping into their giftedness, strengthening decision-making skills, and sharpening their critical thinking skills.
- Manners: Scholars are refining essential social skills, including confident handshakes, respectful introductions, and positive first impressions.
- Executive Functioning: Scholars are strengthening the “trail guides” of the brain by practicing impulse control, organization, flexible thinking, and effective task management.
- Wellness: Scholars are learning how healthy choices fuel both body and mind, helping them stay energized and ready for every adventure.
- Values & Morals: Scholars are exploring real-world ethical dilemmas, examining the importance of integrity and responsibility, and designing a service project that will make a positive impact on our community.
Throughout the day, Scholars saddle up for adventures as they sharpen their skills in courses like:
- Sportsplex – Scholars stepped up to the plate in a creative and collaborative challenge as they designed and operated their own Home Run Derby.
- Spotlight Studios – Scholars took center stage as they transformed storyboards into engaging performances through music, acting, and creative expression.
- Game Show Network – Scholars stepped into the spotlight as contestants and teammates in a series of fast-paced game show challenges through friendly competition.
Across every class, challenge, and shared experience, Scholars are forging new friendships, discovering hidden talents, and growing in confidence. From the heart of Texas to the heart of each Scholar, we are witnessing remarkable moments of learning, leadership, and personal growth.
