From the Director’s Chair
Greetings, DECATS Families!
We’re officially riding into Week 2 of Deep in the Heart of DECATS, and what a memorable week it has been! Our Scholars continue to blaze new trails, discover new strengths, and share their unique gifts as they grow in knowledge and character. I am incredibly proud of their accomplishments and excited to share a few highlights from the week.
Our Manners Scholars polished their social graces by practicing introductions and engaging in small talk in preparation for Tuesday’s Manners to Morals Day. In Executive Functioning, Scholars strengthened essential life skills such as working memory, organization, and social awareness. During Wellness, Scholars explored topics including stress management, healthy body image, and nutrition, building habits that support lifelong well-being. Meanwhile, our Values & Morals Scholars saddled up for service by launching their community giveback project to Texas Children’s Hospital, collecting blankets, Lego games, and clothing.
Creativity and imagination soared as Scholars brought their ideas to life by designing blueprints in The Sky’s the Limit, viewed the trail from a new perspective by switching roles and defending the opposite side in Power of Persuasion, and saddled up to navigate the winding trails of Brainteasers, blazing the right path from start to finish. I’ve received so many heartfelt messages from families sharing the positive impact DECATS is having on their Scholars and families—thank you! It is inspiring to see the difference DECATS is making, and I am deeply grateful for our exceptional team of Mentors who bring our mission to life each day.
We’d love to hear what your Scholar is saying about their DECATS experience! If you’re willing to allow us to share your comments online or in future projects, just let us know.
